Still here

In case you were wondering we were not swept away by the tornadoes that ripped through Nebraska (and Kansas and Iowa) last night. Thankfully because of where we are located in the state, the "system" that allows them to form usually breaks up right before it gets to us, just giving us lots of rain. So, while we did have a night full of thunderstorms, it wasn't anything too crazy.

Today is a busy one for us. When the little guy wakes up from his morning nap we are heading out to the store, and drop our money off for our rent payment, then home for lunch, and hopefully some good naps (for the boys) so I can get my baskets of laundry folded and put away! I'm hoping to go to the pool to swim laps if the hubs gets home early enough from work, and then tonight is Sex in the City night! Yea! I can't wait to see it.

Okay, well I should run, I know this is short, but that's okay, it still counts, which means I met my goal and posted every day this week! YEA FOR ME! Although, Sam I think you are the only one reading these days, and I talk to you everyday anyway...but that's okay. I like to have it so that I can go back and see what I was doing. Okay...enough rambling.

Have a great weekend folks!

its going to be a quick one!

Well, this isn't going to be long, or probably very interesting, but my goal was to post every day this week and I am so close so I can't miss it!

The boys are both napping, thank goodness...my oh my were they cranky today...bleh. But that's okay, we will be getting out of the house this afternoon. At 1 we are meeting up with one of my new pals at this place where kids can go play/learn stuff...its sponsored by the local schools, and its for ages 0-5 years. So we are going to check it out. I need to run tonight, but will be heading to the gym to do that as long as the weather isn't too bad, I guess we have two bad systems coming our way that have been producing tornadoes...don't know if I really want to be out in that.

The running clinic went well. Our speaker last night was a sports dietitian who just talked with us about what to eat before/after runs, taking care of your body post marathon, that sort of thing. It was good information to have, especially for me being new to all of this. So, I'll go again next week and see what we have to talk about!

Well, like I said, this is short, so I am out of here. I need to get everything ready so we can leave when the boys wake up. Have a good day...to anyone out there still reading this...

So far so good...

At my goal of posting every day this week that is. Here it is Wednesday AM and I have another post in the works, ready to send out to all of you.

It rained yesterday...all day, so we played inside, I did laundry and really we were total bums. Although I did at least manage to get in a run. But today we will redeem ourselves, because we have a full day planned. At 9:30 we are meeting the MOPS at a local Martial Arts Studio for our play date this week. FUN FUN! Then tonight I have my first distance clinic at 6 and then I am planning going to the pool for some lap swimming after that.

So, you want to hear my exciting news...okay well its not ALL that exciting, but I was happy. One of the gals I met at that bbq on Saturday, we are taking our boys to this library/learning center thing tomorrow afternoon, AND she invited me out on a girls night outing to go see the Sex in the City movie!!! YEA!! Not only do I really want to see the movie, now I won't have to go see it by myself! Wooo hooo! I am hoping that we can all meet here, have dinner and then the guys can hang out here with the little ones, and us gals can take off for the movie. I am long overdue for a girls night out/movie night. I think the last movie I went to see with a girlfriend was Brokeback Mountain with Sam...or maybe that movie I saw with Nat when I was up there for her wedding, but sadly I can't remember which came first...in any case it's been a long ass time! Okay, I'll stop rambling, I was just pretty excited about that!

So that is how I am going to kick off the weekend...what are your plans?? I know it's only Wednesday, but whatever. Saturday is running day, then Sunday church. That's about it for us I think.

Okay, well that's it for me. The little guys will be up soon enough and with that the day will have officially begun! Hope you all have a great hump day! love kp

back to the grind..

Well after a four day weekend it's time to get back to "the real world" and get a move on with things.

We had a great weekend. Yesterday was really low key, I cleaned for the first part of the day, and then the rest of the day we just hung around the house, played outside, grilled out for dinner, and that was about it. This house is so great, but it takes me FOREVER to clean it. Usually I do my cleaning Saturday mornings, but I slacked this past Sat, so that's why I did it yesterday. But now it's done and I can enjoy the rest of the week with a nice clean place.

Don't have much going on today other than Lowe's is delivering us some carpet for the basement and a table and chairs for our deck so we can dine outside!! It's such a nice thing to be able to go outside here and not be attacked by gnats and mosquitoes the second you walk out your door! The carpet is so that we can make a play area in the basement for the boys. The owners were in the process of finishing it, so the walls and everything are done, there just isn't anything on the floor, so we are doing one 9 x 15 foot area that will be for the boys to play in and I'll set up a work station down there so I can go down and do crafty stuff or work on my scrapbook while they are playing.

I am trying to think of something really interesting to write about, but I really don't have anything...I don't even have pictures for you...GASP!!! I'll take some tomorrow if I remember. We are going to a play date with the MOPS group at a martial arts center. If the big kid likes it I think I might sign him up for a class. He's signed up for soccer this fall, and he will go to VBS this summer, but that is only for a week, so it would be nice if they had something over the summer months to keep him busy. I have come to realize that a three year old with nothing to do is NO fun to have hanging around. Big kid tends to get a little out of hand when there is nothing going on.

Well with that I am going to go get my day started. I hope you have enjoyed this, if for nothing else than just the update on what is going on in our exciting lives! I'll be back tomorrow folks! love kp

A thank you

To all those that have and are currently serving, and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice serving this country so that we can enjoy a life of freedom!

I could go on, but I'll leave it at that, short and sweet. This weekend has been wonderful. The get together we went to on Saturday was awesome! We met so many great people!!! Everyone there was the same as us, JO shore tour from their first submarine. LOTS of little ones too. There were three little little ones there (4 if you count Mason) that were all within a month of each other. So, that was a good time.

Sunday we went to church, then to brunch, home to just relax and then out to dinner again. Today we are going to do some grilling and hopefully enjoy the outdoors if the rain holds off. Last night it stormed really bad. Wind, hail, flash flood warnings...all that good stuff.

Just a little update on the running front. It's going well so far. The hubby and I joined a running club here, which I am excited about. They have a distance clinic which I plan on attending once a week. One of the guys the hubs works with is in the clinic as well, so at least I will know someone. I am also swimming again once a week, and I LOVE it. I did a mile my first visit, and would have kept going but needed to get home to fix supper. I have forgotten how much I miss being in competitive swimming. But at least while we are here I can get in regular trips to the pool. I will officially start my marathon program in June, so right now I am just trying to maintain 15 miles a week or so to get a good base. I still can't believe I am signed up to run a marathon! Am I insane???

Okay, well that's all for today but my goal is to blog every day this week. We shall see! Hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend!! love kp

falling into place

Things are really starting to fall into place around here. I think I mentioned that I met some really nice ladies at coffee last week, well on Tuesday we went to the zoo with two of them and their little ones, and had a great time! We are going back in a few weeks.

Also, we were very blessed to stumble across a wonderful church right away, and I am getting involved there! I went to a VBS (vacation bible school) volunteer meeting last week, and it turns out they were looking for a photographer that would be willing to donate their services! Of course I volunteered!! What a wonderful way to be able to use my gifts for the church!! I will also be helping with the planning and set up!

Yesterday I took the boys to the park that is just down the street (within walking distance - even for the big kid) and we stumbled across another great group! It called MOPS (mom's of preschoolers) and they were having their weekly play date there. The ladies were all great, and all the kids were around hot shot's age! I have a friend involved in this group out in CT and she is a big fan of it so I was excited to hear that there was a local group here for me to join up with.

So, things are really falling into place, and we love it here! This area has a ton of great stuff to offer! The zoo is incredible, there is a children's museum that we still need to check out, there are tons of parks, and some that offer nature programs over the summer, trails for running and biking, minor league baseball games, which are a lot of fun...I could keep going but you get my drift! Plus we are close to KC which also has a lot to offer! We all know that God has a plan, and I really feel that we are where we are "supposed" to be. I remember when we were trying to decide what choices the hubs should put down for jobs, we prayed on it and asked Him to lead us, and He led us here!

So this weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I think it's supposed to rain a lot, but hopefully we will get a little sun! We have been invited to a get together on Saturday with one of the other sub guys that works in the hubs office with him, so that should be fun. I guess a lot of the people have little ones, so the kids will have a good time. And it will be good to meet some more people. But other than that we don't have any big plans. Well thats it for today...I'll be back soon! love kp

Time to blog again

Well, I think my break has been long enough, time to get back into the swing of things. So, DH had his first day at work, he stayed until about 11 or so, then went out to lunch with some of his new coworkers and then was home by one. Yea, it was a long day...haha. He also gets Monday off because they didn't have his stuff ready Friday for him to be able to get into the building and such by himself, so he doesn't go until Tuesday...I know...it's a rough gig. HA!

I met some people on Thursday. I was brave and met up with a few wives I had been in contact with for coffee. Tuesday the boys and I are going to meet up with some of them and their wee ones and go to the zoo! I am really excited, and it will be so good for my little hot shot. I know it must be hard for him to not have any "day-to-day" friends that he sees on a regular basis so that is what we are working on. I am hoping to get him registered for T-Ball this summer and then soccer in the fall! I think he will really enjoy both of those. The pools open next weekend, so I am excited about that. I love going to the pool!

The munchkin is doing great. He is "cruising" now, meaning he pulls up on everything then uses that stuff to help him walk around. My guess is that he will be walking by the time that he hits a year, or shortly thereafter. My parents are coming out here for his first birthday. I can't wait for them to come out here, and see our new place and the boys. I have already started planning what kind of cake I am going to make for the birthday boy as well as for the rest of us. I haven't been doing much baking these days, mostly to keep myself from eating too many sweets. But I miss it, I really enjoy baking.

Okay, well I don't want to get too long winded here, I mean, it's been so long I wouldn't want to overwhelm you all. haha. Hope you enjoy you week! I'll be back tomorrow!!
