A break...

Most of you probably figured this was coming, but I am taking a blogging break. I've not been keeping it as up to date as I would like, and things are just a little crazy here right now, so I just wanted to let you know, that you may not see anything new for awhile. I'm sure I'll pop back in every now and again if I have something to share, but it won't be a regular thing.

I'll of course still check in on your blogs and such, so I'll be around, and you can always reach me by email. :)

Take care my friends!

new discovery

Well, in case you are wondering I have curbed the MarioKart habit and have been "clean" for almost a week. We did all play a little bit last night, but it was as a family, so I was just doing it to join in on the family fun.

I made a new discovery this week, and I had every intention of posting it Wednesday, but some things came up and I am really just now getting around to "normal" stuff again. I am about to yet again reveal how completely UNcool I really am, but that's okay because most of you already knew that, and those of you that didn't - well I guess you will now.

So, what is my new discovery?? FRINGE. Have you heard of it? New show that just started this year on Fox. I saw a commercial for it while I was watching the bowl games earlier in the week, and couldn't believe that I hadn't been watching from day one!! So, Tuesday night the hubs and I sat down to watch the show, and while it's a little different from anything else I've ever watched, it was pretty good, and while a more serious drama, still had some humor in it to make it light. I liked it.

Now if you check out the description of the show you really wouldn't think of it as a "Kelly" kind of show (as the hubs put it). I tend to be the "Greys Anatomy" and "Private Practice" kind of TV gal. You know, light, funny, with a bit of drama and romance...girl stuff. But there is one part about FRINGE that makes it very much a Kelly show...

are you ready for it...

Yes my friends, its none other than Josh Jackson, and he is back! Oh how I have missed him since Dawson's Creek went off the air back in...uhhhh...2003 I think? Yes, I watched Dawson's Creek...religiously. (This is where the uncool part comes in in case you were wondering) Ever since seeing him in Mighty Ducks as a kid I have been smitten. I've always said that if things with the hubs don't work out, Joshua is my back up plan. Although in reality if I ever met him my tongue would probably tie in knots and I wouldn't be able to say a damn thing, but that's besides the point, because I think that the hubby and are are in it for the long haul (which is a VERY good thing - and needless to say, I am even MORE smitten with my hubby) so I don't really need to worry about a back up plan...

So anyway...the short version of all that is I have found a new show I enjoy. It's far fetched and a little strange, but I like it anyway.

I hope you all enjoy the last of your weekend, and I'll try to be back soon!

An intervention is needed

I have a secret...I have developed an addiction and I think it is slowly taking over my life. I think I may need an intervention. What is it you may ask?? What could be so addicting that I am calling for an intervention?? It's almost sad to say...but I fear that I may have to do something about my new favorite past time...the Wii. There, I said it. I am addicted. Really not to the Wii in general, we've had it for over a year now and it's never been an issue for me, but one particular game - MarioKart - has done me in. I can't get enough. We only let the big kid play it for a little bit at night and that is only if he eats a good dinner, so I have to wait until they are in bed. But after that...I'm free to play as long as I want - with the hubs of course. I think this could be a challenge for my time management goal. Hmmmm...I think I may have to nip this one in the bud.

However I have not been totally worthless. I have really made improvements with my time during the day. I've set aside "computer time" which is working out well because I am more diligent about doing what I need to do and not just "surfing" because I know my time is limited. I'm also doing better with my chores around the house. All in all I feel like I am being more productive which makes me feel like things are more organized, and when I feel organized I am a VERY happy girl.

Okay - well I think that's it for me today. Wish me luck with my Mario "detox" plan. hehe ;)

Catch ya later!

thought I'd share

I just took these off my camera and thought I would share a few with you. I know there are a few of you out there that like to see pictures of the little ones to keep you updated, so here ya go! I took these a day or two before Christmas.
My sweet boys

I thought they turned out pretty cute! Of course I think all pictures of my kiddos are cute, so I may be a little biased, but that's beside the point.

Okay, well I need to run. I've got quite the to-do list today, so I'm going to get on that! Hope you all have a good start to your week!

I'm watching you...

Well a few of you anyway...the people who's blogs I usually check/read/etc. Check it out, I finally figured out how to follow blogs! I feel so accomplished! This is part of my "time management" goal for 2009. I had been told that following blogs was a possibility, I just hadn't really looked into it. Wow, what a difference this makes. Being able to just look in one spot and see who has updated and who hasn't! Okay, so I realize that this is very minor on most peoples lists of exciting things or even important things. But I feel like it's a big step in the right direction!! Haha.

I still have yet to work on my treasure map...hopefully today I'll get a chance to work on it. Actually the hubs and I have become addicted to playing Mariokart on the Wii at night after the little ones are in bed. He kicks my tail every time, but it's still fun! But he will have to work tomorrow so he won't want to be up late playing games which means I can get to work on my little map. Also in store for today is church here in a bit, and then after the little ones nap I think we are going to head over to the gym, get a little workout in and then go to the pool. I think the kiddos will have fun and the hubs wants me to help him out with his stroke technique for his freestyle swim. He is signed up for his first triathlon in June!! We're both pretty excited! He was so supportive of me with my marathon that the least I can do is help him out with this and repay the favor!

So, that's what we are up to today. Tomorrow it's back to "real" life. Hubby goes back to work and I get to work on things that need to be done around here. One is taking the little one for his first haircut. It's finally grown enough to be able to cut it. I'll make sure to post pictures of that big event! Big kid heads back to school later this week as well which will be good. I'm hoping that I get back into the routine of going to the gym while he's there, so at least I get 3 days a week of gym time in. I have been slacking so bad...need to get my butt motivated somehow!

Alright, well that is it for me today folks. I need to go get my face on and get dressed for church. Will hopefully be back tomorrow! I feel like I am on a roll!

2009 - Day #3

Well...I'm back. I know I "usually" don't blog on the weekends, but really I haven't been too good about blogging in the first place, so I figure if I have a free second I might as well go for it.

I've been a bit lazy this morning. The kiddos woke me up just before 6:30, so we've been hanging out, playing games in our pajamas. The little guy is already down for a little nap and it's only 8:45, but oh well. Hubby is on his way to the car place to have Penelope (the Pacifica) serviced. It's time for an oil change, tire rotation, all that fun stuff. So now the big kid is watching Wall-E and I'm...well doing this.

Don't really have a whole lot to talk about today. Just felt like posting something. I'm trying to think of something we could do today as a family, but the little one is still not feeling 100% so I don't really want to take him out where there are a lot of kiddos, and I think we are supposed to get some freezing rain here later today which always makes things exciting while going out. Haha. Maybe it will just be an inside game day today. It's been nice having two four day weekends in a row with the holidays. We've had a lot of nice family time and just been able to relax. I love just hanging out with my family - they are my favorite people after all.

Oh, so I got new Ugg slippers for Christmas and they are the BEST things ever. They are so comfortable and WARM!! I love them. I would wear them all the time if I could. Santa was pretty good to me this year. I got some new clothes, shoes, and a gift certificate to the spa which I plan on using as soon as the hubs gets back from his month in VA. He will be leaving us for about a month here soon and I have a feeling that a trip to the spa will be MUCH needed when he gets back. I love my kiddos - and they are great kids, but being single mommy 24hrs a day 7 days a week makes for a very tired mommy. I am hoping to get some little crafty things done that I don't usually work on when hubby is here because we usually end up watching movies or playing board games or something. One of those things being his Christmas stocking! I know...Christmas is past, but I didn't quite get it finished this year. So, I'm hoping to finish it while he's gone and then he will have it next year!

Okay, well I think I am going to wrap this up. I realize that I have just been rambling, but there were a few little tid-bits in there...okay maybe not. But you love me anyway! :)

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! ~kp

New Year...New Look!

Well for my blog that is. My look is exactly the same. So, do any of you out there do resolutions?? I sort of do, not really. Mine are more like goals that I set at the start of each year and then strive to achieve, which I guess IS a resolution, but I guess I just look at it differently. This year I think I'm going to jump on the treasure map bandwagon. Basically it's a way to put your goals for the year into picture form, with you in it and then you have it to look at everyday for inspiration. My friend sam did one last year, and has plans to do another. And I got this info from this blog (which is also linked on Sam's blog above), which she found somewhere else online, but it describes it better than I can.

Making a "treasure map" is a very powerful technique, and fun to do.

A treasure map is an actual, physical picture of your desired reality. It is valuable because it forms an especially clear, sharp image which can then attract and focus energy into your goal. It works along the same lines as a blueprint for a building.

You can make a treasure map by drawing or painting it, or by making a collage using pictures and words cut from magazines, books or cards, photographs, drawings, and so on. Don't worry if you're not artistically accomplished. Simple, childlike treasure maps are just as effective as great works of art!

Basically the treasure map should show you in your ideal scene, with your goal fully realized.

I think it's a neat idea and a good way to always keep my goals close at hand. I'll have to work on mine later today. I'm not sure if I'll do it on the computer or just by hand, but I'll try to post a pic once it's all done. I think I might do mine in scrapbook form on a 12x12 paper. We shall see. But, while I don't have my map done, I can share a few of my goals for the year. My big one is TIME MANAGEMENT!! This may come as a surprise for a lot of you because if you know me you know I am VERY organized. My favorite store if Office Max and I love anything to do with filing and organizing. But that's all the "stuff", when it comes to time it's another story. I need to learn how to compartmentalize my day the way I do my desk. I just get sidetracked with random tasks, or get sucked in "surfing" the web during my "free" time and then don't end up getting things done that I wanted to do (like blog or answer email). So that is my big goal, because I am sure once I figure that out, I'll feel like my day is much more productive and I'll get more done.

Okay, well I think that is it for me today. I hope you all had a nice New Years Eve. Ours was pretty laid back. We had a few friends over for dinner, but they were all gone by around 9:30, and then we got the kiddos to bed and actually were in bed ourselves before 11. I know, didn't even stay up to greet the new year, but I was beat after a long day of running around with the kiddos, cooking and cleaning. HAPPY 2009 Everyone!!!
