time flys

Happy Leap Day!! This day always fascinates me. The whole idea of it making up for "lost time" or whatever because the Earth doesn't rotate to have exactly 365 days in year...crazy.

SO SORRY for not posting like a good girl this week. It's been nuts so I am just going to recap the highlights and then sign off, and *hopefully* be back next week with all sorts of fun things.

First a shout out to my girl Nat, it seems that her and her hubbie are on the road to buying their first house!! Congrats sweetie, that is VERY exciting!!!

Let's see, last weekend the hubster and I both set personal records in running. We both ran 7 miles! That is just crazy when I think back, but what is even more crazy is this weekend we are doing 8, and then next is our race which is a 15k...wowza. I think I was still on a bit of a "running" high when I took on this challenge all those months ago, but it will be a good time. We have a friend coming as well as my cousin to race with us, my parents will be here to take the boys, it will be fun.

And...we have a contract on our house. WAHOOO! Just over 3 weeks on the market, so that's not too shabby. Tomorrow is the inspection, so as long as that goes over well, we will be good to go. I don't see anything going wrong. We have taken care of this place, and if there were something major wrong with it, we would know. But I'll rest easier once it's over with.

The hubs is flying out west here shortly. We were all going to go, but with prices these days, it just wasn't worth it. He's going to be sent with the digital camera and laptop and report back to me here. For him alone with airfare and renting a car it's about 500 bucks! that's not counting the food or his lodging. And that was getting 20% off with priceline on his tickets! YIIPES! Okay, that's enough of that, no one like to hear about money...

Oh, and the biz is going very well. If you haven't checked out the website lately you should. I've got new stuff in the gallery (portfolio) and there is more to come. I'm hiring my girl Sam to help me out again when her work-load eases up a bit. I need to be able to have some sort of on-line proofing thing set up so people can check out there stuff online. Things really picked up faster than I anticipated!! I didn't think I would need any sort of online proofing tool until later when I had more clients, but I am already getting to that point. Woo hooo!

Let's see, the in-laws are coming down for a bit tomorrow as well, in the afternoon. And that is about it for our weekend. I'll try to take some good pics and be back on Monday ready to go. In about two weeks things will slow down a bit, so just stick with me, I promise to return! Okay, well I hope you all have a nice weekend. love ya!

7 randoms to start the weekend

Well, I was tagged by my best gal sam and it fits my mood today, so here ya go. I don't know that I even have seven people that blog to tag, but I'll do my best!

THE RULES:
1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

My 7 Randoms:

1. I talk to myself...ALL THE TIME. It can be anything from running conversations by myself to make sure they sound okay, to complete random-ness. Sometimes it's just an on-going narration of what I am doing that is running through my head. I have done this for as long as I can remember, so I don't think I am going crazy, I must have been born that way.

2. I think I have mentioned this before, but I am VERY particular about the "perfect" ripeness of bananas. If they don't fall within a specific window I can't eat them. I only like them just after they turn yellow...in fact i like there to be a bit of green on the peel still. If that bit isn't present then they are no good to me unless it's to make banana bread or cake.

3. I can put truck drivers to shame with my burps. Yes, i know it probably isn't the most lady-like fact, but it's true. For those of you who have heard me let one out, you know I speak the truth.

4. I am obsessed about calendars and planners. I have dozens. I can't help it, I have this compulsive need to buy them and keep them all over the house. I also have a very particular way that they have to be written on right down to the "correct" way to cross a day off. It must be a diagonal line starting from top left of the box down to the bottom right corner, and I have specific pens/markers for each one depending on which one it is. Sad and completely over the top I know, but its just my "thing".

5. When I get pissed, worried, mad, etc. I clean. The hubster and I don't argue much, but on the rare occasion that we do, you can bet that my house will be spotless.

6. I don't mind "doing" laundry, but I HATE HATE HATE putting it away!

7. I have an overwhelming fear of falling/heights. They terrify me. I love to go snow skiing, but I would almost rather walk up the mountain lugging my skis with me than step foot on the ski lift. Because of this I usually stick to the small slopes (bunny hills) and that's fine by me. They usually have a little rope you can hang onto that will pull you up the hill therefore saving me the heart stopping fear of the ride up the mountain in some little "bucket" that has nothing to keep you from plummeting to your death but a flimsy bar. No thanks.

Okay, well there you have it. Seven random facts about me. I don't read seven blogs...well I don't think I do, but how about this. If you are reading this and you haven't been tagged then consider yourself tagged. Don't pretend you didn't read this just to get out of it. If you have a blog and you are reading, then suck it up and go post...then report back here and let me know that you have completed your mission. Don't wuss out on me. Okay, with that I am off. I hope you all have a fabulific weekend and I'll be back Monday with my weekend report. Later!

the price to fly

Yikes! My my, the price for flying has really gone up. We were going to all try and fly out west to look for houses but it would be over a grand to do so, so I'm thinking that my sweet husband will be flying out there on his own and reporting to us down here by phone and sending pictures of options and areas using the laptop.

Okay, well enough of that. I am sorry that todays entry isn't quite as fun as yesterdays. I just don't have it in me tonight. It's been a LONG day. But a good one. The big kid had his post-op appointment this afternoon and checked out A-OK! WHOO HOO. He also had an appointment with the allergist yesterday, and for the time being, he is testing negative for allergies, although i am sure in time the will show themselves, after all he is my son. just not now! He is doing very well.

Okay, well I'm going to call it a night. Tomorrow is survey thursday so I'll be back. later gators.

now this is deep...

Okay, not so much. The following has been on my mind for awhile now, and it bothers me to no end, so maybe if I write about it I will feel better. I know that some of you out there reading this don't yet have children, and even if you do you may not be to the point of watching the following shows...but I’ll do my best to convey this message to all of you.

Back when the big kid had his tonsils out, there was about a week of recovery in which all he could really do was lay on the couch and watch TV. Because of this, I was exposed to a wide array of kid friendly shows that we don't usually see. The main channel we watched was Noggin. During this week there were three things that bothered the CRAP out of me and I will talk about those now!

First is Wonder Pets. Basically it’s these three classroom pets that go off and save other animals in trouble. Well there is a little duck in the show that speaks in "baby talk". You know the talk, like if you were to say "serious" it would sound like "se-we-us". What genius thought that would be a good idea??? As the mother of a young child the LAST thing I want him to do is decide to talk like that because he saw it on TV, when right now his speech is perfect (for his age). I mean, these shows are supposed to be for learning...what the hell is that teaching?? Not to mention every time the duck opens its little mouth…errr beak…it makes me want to start pulling my hair out its so annoying!! I think it is stupid and it really bothers me, and I am very thankful that my kiddo is better now so that we never have to see that dumb show again.

Next is the show Little Bear. Now I know these shows are for kids, and this little "pet peeve" is really something that they wouldn't pick up on, but it bothers me none-the-less. So this show is about this little bear that lives with his Mom and Dad. Okay, so little bear, never wears any clothes. He is a bear, so that's pretty normal except for the fact that his father wears a three piece suit ALL THE TIME and his mom is always in a long skirt, shirt and apron. Now...why do they get to be dressed but the kid doesn't??? I don't get it. AND the dad NEVER changes his clothes no matter what. We were watching one episode and they were trying to work out in the garden, and moving a big rock, and he is out there in this damn three piece suit???!?! I don't get it. It just drives me up the wall. I just think it should be all or nothing. They either all need to wear clothes or none of them. But then again in this show the bear is friends with a duck, cat, owl, and some little girl...so I guess the clothes thing is probably just goes along with that...

And finally Dora. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Dora. I think she’s a spunky little gal and her and Boots go off and have lots of adventures, and I'm cool with that. It's not HER that I have a problem with, it’s her creators. Why oh why couldn't they have given this little girl a normal outfit?!?! The poor little thing walks around every day in a pink shirt (which is a size too small in my opinion), red shorts, yellow socks and white shoes, with her purple backpack! Seriously??!?! That is the best they could come up with??? Her cousin Diego looks normal (and matches) in all his cool jungle animal rescue gear, why does she have to walk around in clothes that don't even match?? I really don't get it. Sure every now and again they will go somewhere that requires a different outfit, but those are few and far between. I know these animators have it in them to think up something better. I mean, she is forever stuck in a too small non-matching outfit and she has to go all over the place in it! Again, I know this is for kids, and they don't pick up on this stuff, but it sure bothers the boogers out of me.

Okay, well that is it. That is all I have to write about today. It’s been on my mind for quite some time, so I really wanted to get it out and share with you. So with that I will leave you to ponder those three things. Maybe if you get a chance, you should check them out so you will know where I am coming from if you don't already. Or maybe just save yourselves the frustration it has caused me and avoid them all together. I know that is what I plan to do now that we are back to our normal "TV time" which thankfully doesn't include any of the above. Have a good night...I’ll catch you tomorrow!

monday monday

Well, it's Monday. I'm sorry to say there won't be much as far as pictures go because this weekend we were all down and out with a cold. But we did have the big kid's valentines day party at school on Friday so I am posting pictures of that.

In other news we had two showings on the house today, so fingers crossed maybe something will come of it. Thanks for the "house selling vibes" this morning Sam, I think they helped.

Pictures: The table that was set for the party...it gets a little over the top, but looks pretty. Hot shot waving to us, saying prayers with teacher and time to feast on cookies!

Well that's it for me. I'm fixing dinner tonight for a friend of mine that just had a baby last week so I need to go make sure that is going as it should. Hope all of you had a good start to your week! Tomorrow I hope to be more exciting :).

friday fun

I know, i suck. Here i start this new blog, hoping to get a post in every day, and I have fallen short, terribly short. But I just haven't had the time. If I wasn't waiting up for my friend to come get her little ones I would be in bed now because I am so tired.

The house for sale stuff is a bitch. Seriously, there is no other way to describe it. We are now at a week for sale, had lots of looks and even a few nibblets, but nothing substantial. We have a showing tomorrow, so pray that maybe they are "the ones".

My work is really taking off. I had three jobs last weekend and they were all very successful! I am so happy about that I could just pee my pants. But I wont. Two out of the three have already placed their orders and I'll be meeting with the third next week to go over her proofs. God gave me a gift behind the lens, I am so blessed!

The hubster has been on leave the past week which has been nice. He goes back next week, so that's sad. It always goes by much too fast. I think we are going to do the beach again Monday. It was so cool out there that we really want to go back. And the big kid doesn't have school so we will have all day.

Been running again. Today was 4 miles which felt pretty good. My left calf is sore, but nothing a little stretching won't take care of. And tomorrow I am scheduled for an hour massage, so that should help a bit too! Sunday is long run day and I am going to try for 5.5. I have a lot of catching up to do on my training program for our 15K that we are running in March!

Okay, well that's the readers digest version of whats going on here. I'll be back monday with weekend updates (pictures). have a great weekend!!

tuesdays thoughts

If you cracked open my head and could read my thoughs this is what you would find:
  • three year olds have the ability to wake up talking and not stop until the fall asleep...it's incredible
  • why am I having my spring allergy issues in February?
  • I really hope this house sells soon because keeping it up may actually kill me
  • my neck hurts
  • i am supposed to run how many miles in LESS than a month??? 9.3 would be the answer. hmmmm
  • i wish i could breath
  • Why I said I would be the deco chair for the auction is beyond me...
  • I have SOOO much to do
  • I am super excited that my photography buisness is starting to really take off
  • I need to go to the grocery store...BADLY
  • I also need to stop chewing on my lip when i am anxious...it's starting to hurt and won't look very attractive when there is a hole in it

Okay, those are the wonderful thoughts in my head at the moment. I am off to work on decorations for the auction. have a good night and i'll do my best to be back tomorrow!

Sweet surprises and happy endings...

Well today has been a wonderful (yet very busy day). Won't go into a ton of detail because, well I just don't have the time, but I'll note the highlights.

The morning was full of running around until finally it was time to pick Caleb up from school. When we got home I had a package on the front porch. Knowing it was a box of goodies from Sam I quickly got the boys settled and then tore into that sucker so fast it didn't know what hit it! Before my eyes were cookies of all kinds: shortbreads, chocolate chocolate chip, espresso chip, banana mounds...just to name a few. I quickly ate one of each then feeling slightly guilty put the rest up for later, and stuck some in the freezer. So...BIG thanks Sam that was a wonderful treat and worth every little bite. They were all fabulous, and it's going to take some major self control not to binge later after my dinner settles.

Now, for my next highlight. Fast forward a few hours (four) and my phone rings...on the other end a voice I would know anywhere and am always happy to hear. Yup, you guessed it...Matt!! After a two day delay, they arrived home this morning. I love homecomings. That moment when all the anxiety and anticipation is over and all is right with the world...you're a family again. There is nothing like the feeling of pulling up and seeing your guy after days/weeks/or in most cases months. That feeling right there, the absolute joy and bliss makes all the time away fade into a distant memory. It's the best.

So, because we are a family again, I am going to sign off for the night. I'll be back tomorrow. Hope you all have a wonderful night! Happy hump day!

I'm a loser!!

Yes, I write that with pride and satisfaction, because not only am I a loser, I am the biggest loser. Well at least for this month! The mom's club that I am a member of is having a biggest loser competition. I figured that even though I don't have much I want to lose, it would be a good way to keep me on my eating healthy track and maybe provide motivation to stay away from some of the junk. And, with the exception of the other day when I ate 5 cookies in a 6 hour span, it has worked. So, today was our meeting and I weighed in, and I have lost 8 pounds this month!! WOAH!! But I do have to say that A#1 last month I was retaining water when I weighed in making me a bit heavier that I was, and B#2 Caleb's surgery, the stay in the hospital, and the stress that went along with all that really took its toll, so it hasn't been a healthy way to shed pounds. But whatever, so far I am winning the race so woo hooo for me! I should enjoy it now though, because I don't want to lose any more weight. I am at my ideal place and plan to stay there, so next month won't be quite as exciting. See, I like having some resemblance of boobs, and well if I lose any more pounds, they will be all but a memory (and that is WITH me still nursing Mason full time).

Okay well that is really all I have to share today. We are busy busy today so I need to get off my tush and get moving. But don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow!!

Weekend in pictures

Okay, so originally I was going to have mondays be "fun survey day" but now I am thinking that a weekend in pictures might be more fun. This way you can SEE what I did this weekend, and it's like you are all here with me...well sort of. This one's for you Sam :) love ya.

This was Friday night. This was hot shot's track that he set up. Notice there is something in every square tile. This was VERY important.

The following are all of Saturday...or yard day as I have been calling it. The one of me is totally posed and there is nothing natural about it, but i wanted to give you all a visual of what I looked like out there. So here you have it...

Me pretending I am planting...but really I probably did look like this...
These lovely ladies are up by the front door
Pretty flower happy in her new home

The munchkin soaking up some sun and playing in the grass...

Brotherly love...Munchkin doesn't look so sure about that...

Hot shot being sweet but all the munchkin wants is the food...

Easy there big guy...those flowers are delicate!!

A new home

And then these next two are just of the boys. Each of them this weekend decided Hubbies cover would make a fun toy. The little guy just chewed on it for awhile, but I thought the picture would be better if he were wearing it. Look close, you can see those two bottom teeth!!!

Well that's it folks. Hope you enjoyed seeing what we did this weekend. Wasn't much, but I enjoyed the company of two of the sweetest little boys around!

PS for some reason my spell check won't work, so please excuse the fact that I can't spell and just overlook any minor (or major) mistakes. Thanks ;)

Welcome

Yea, so glad you found your way over here...although seeing as how I posted the link that probably wasn't too hard. Anyway, so yes, this is the new place, what do you think?? It still needs a bit of fixing up, but for now it will do.

I am sorry to say that my first post really isn't going to be much. But really because I had to explain my move over on the other one, this is #2 for the day, and I am beat!

I just realized that the name of my new blog sort of makes it sound like it's going to be all about food...it's not. There will probably be talk of food, and maybe even a picture now and again, but that's about it. Okay, well I am off to bed. But don't worry...I'll be back Monday and then hopefully I'll have something to talk about! Have a great weekend folks.
