Monday...enough said
Saturday I enjoyed my 90 min. massage and then we made a family trip to Lowe's. I wanted to check out the washers and dryers to see what we would be looking at when we got to NE and have to get new ones and we had some stuff to pick up for house repairs that we agreed to do before closing. The rest of the day we just spent with the boys, I fixed a nice supper and it was just a nice family day...same story for Sunday, just add in church and no more massages for me.
This week my goal is to get all the things set up to be cancelled/turned off at the end of April as well as make lists of things I need to start setting aside that are not going to get packed up and will be coming with us. The big kid goes back to school this week (I have to leave in a few short minuets actually), which he is looking forward too. As usual I've got meetings, play dates, and some lunch/coffee get togethers with friends. Should be a great week! Okay, well short and sweet for me today. Hope you all enjoyed your weekends and that this week is off to a good start! love kp

playing catch up
But I did manage to get a few pics from one of our get togethers as well as hot shots little party at school. So I am going to post some of those and then I'll continue with the updates!
Hunting Eggs at the Easter Party:
Enjoying some Easter Party Grub:
Some Pics from the Hale/Farewell: Matt receiving his gag gift from Moises, a close up of the gift but really I wanted to show my mom that this is the same fabric that she has covering one of her chairs at home. Apparently XO's wife and my mom have very similar taste...who knew?? And then one of the group!
Cute no? Okay, so lets see. The packers are coming April 21 and 22 and then they come to pick everything up April 23!!! We will load up the troops and start our drive out to the great Midwest!! LESS THAN A MONTH!!! EEEKKK!! I feel so unprepared!! I don't know how that is possible, but somehow it just feels like it's all sneaking up on me until *bam* it's going to punch me in the face! I better start eating a lot of Mad Hatter before I know it I'll be gone and won't have it around!
This past week was spring break down here, so big kid hasn't had school all week, which means I have been busy finding lots of fun things to do so that he doesn't get too bored! This weekend I am scheduled for a 90 min massage at the spa!! I can't wait. I've had a gift certificate I got for Christmas, and if I didn't use it it would just be a waste because I sure can't go after we move! So I am really looking forward to that. Tonight we went down to one of our favorite pizza places on Amelia...we have decided that we are going to eat there every weekend until we leave...it's another place we are REALLY going to miss. Hands down, best pizza I have ever had in my life!!!
Really not much else to report. Busy with work and getting things set up for the move and of course my babies. The little guy is getting all four of his top teeth in right now. Poor little guy. The outside two have broken the gums, and the front two should pop through any day. I feel so bad for him though, I know that has to hurt. Not to mention all the drool!! He is like a faucet! Hot shot is busy as all 3.5 year old boys are. He goes (and talks) non-stop, but the kid just cracks me up! The stuff he says and his cute little personality are just too funny. I am blessed...when nothing else seems to go right, those two little guys can always make me smile.
Okay, off to watch "Enchanted" with the hubs and enjoy the start to a nice weekend! Hope to be back more next week and actually have substantial posts again!!

going going gone...
Happy St. Patrick's Day...and a happy bday to my Mama!!! Our weekend was busy, well at least for me. Friday I left to take the big kid to school at 8:30 and didn't get home again until after I picked him up from school at noon. Then I was off again by 1 to start decorating for the auction and didn't get home for good until after 6. Saturday morning I was gone by 8am to get to the gym to get my decor on, and didn't get done until 4. At 4 I fed the munchkin then showered real quick then it was out the door again around 5:45 with my sweetie to enjoy the actual auction. The boys had a sitter. We got home around 11:30 and CRASHED!!! It was a long day, but very worth it. Everyone talked about the great decorations and how nice it all looked, so I was happy to not only be done with it but that it was a job "well" done!! Here are a few pictures of decorations and the auctioning fun. I was an idiot and didn't take any of the cool boardwalk that we built or any of the entryway decorations, but I am going to check with my partner in crime Carrie to see if she was smarter than I was!!!
Above: Doorway decorations going into Silent Auction room and a really bad picture of me with the hubs. Unfortunately, not even large quantities of make-up could cover up my "tired" look I had going on.
Above: View of the sage and a close up of one of the many "Mosquitas" we had floating around!
Sunday I didn't do ANYTHING. I was tired and sore, and I think I have my hubbie's cold...bleah. So for first part of the day we just laid around. Later in the afternoon i did manage to get some work done, we took the boys to the park, and then went out to dinner. So it wasn't a complete waste.Today has been busy. I am actually typing this "on the go" because I am not going to have much time this afternoon. I grabbed the laptop before I left to get my hot shot from school and am currently sitting in the car typing away while I wait in the pickup line!! Talk about multi-tasking!! We have to hit up the grocery store after lunch and drop off a CD of pictures to a client then home to start dinner, and tackle the mountains of laundry that are taking over my bathroom!! EEEK!! I have been getting really busy with pictures, which is great. I had a session this AM and have another on Thursday and yet another on Saturday!! So that is wonderful! Although soon I am going to have to stop taking apt's because we will be so close to the move. We started our webmove stuff online last night, so now we are just waiting to hear what days we get for the pack out and pickup. We should know by the end of the week! Its so crazy, I can hardly believe we will be leaving in about 5 weeks!!! Where did the past three years go???
Tomorrow we have a hale and farewell to welcome the new CO and also a few new Ensigns and to say goodbye to our current CO and his family. I am looking forward to it, because those are always a good time. The next one we have will be our farewell...crazy. Okay well I am rambling so I will end this. Until tomorrow, hope you all had wonderful weekends and that your weeks' are starting off right! love kp

Thought for the day...
This post has been updated...scroll down!
So as everyone knows it's tax season. And my thought is this...do those places that dress up their employees like Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty then put them out on busy streets waving at the cars go by really get that much business by doing that?? I mean seriously?? You know the people I am talking about right?? It's not just here in my town, I know that because I have seen them other places.
My hubs always does our taxes, so it really doesn't apply to me. But if he didn't and I was looking for someone to do mine, I think that would turn me away from using them. I just can't take that place seriously.
So that is what I have been wondering about today. I drove past the place that does this twice today in all my crazy driving around, and it just stuck with me. With that I am off to feed the munchkin and then head back to Auction Land to continue with my fabulous decor! I'll post pictures from it in all its glory Monday! Hope you all have a rockin' weekend!!! Love KP
An update:
I have to take away my statement about me not being in any pictures! They posted some more, and I got not one but two finishing pictures...wobbly bits and all!! So I thought I would post.Thursday, March 13, 2008

Rants and Rambles
Okay, well it's not really a rant, it's more me being a whiny little girl but whatever. Is it seriously to much to ask that I get one picture of me crossing the finish line in a race that I run?? I realize that they are never "good" pictures because really, who looks good running?? NOT me that is for sure, and no, I don't run races just so that I can have my picture snapped when I am looking not so cute with what I can only imagine would be my wobbly bits flapping about, but because I have yet to get said picture, I don't know what I would look like. It would just be nice to later on, down the road have some sort of photographic evidence that once upon a time I ran the Gate River Run, and finished still running. So there you have it, that is my rant. Nothing particularly news-worthy. But last night I probably looked through about 1000 pictures and came up empty handed. I did find one that I guess you could say is of me, but really its of the people in-front of me and I happen to be filling up space in the background. If you want to take a look you can find it here.
So that's my story. Today was busy, lots of errands were run, and I would like to say that I was successful in all my ventures, but no, my successfulness apparently ended around 3 because after that things just didn't want to "gel" for me. I tried to go get a new pair of jeans because all of mine are either not fitting or have holes, but that was just a big old mess which I will not go into followed by an even bigger mess when I tried to get us dinner...all I have to say is this: if you order something and the establishment is "out" of said item, don't you think that would be a good thing to tell people this news when they order it, or shortly after you find out instead of letting them wait over 10 min and then telling them when they (meaning myself) inquire where their food is??? Yea, that's what I think as well. Grrrrr. But the early part of my day was very productive and I even got a nice 2 mile walk in with the munchkin after I dropped my hot shot off at school. Then it was off to tie up some stuff for the auction, which is also really coming together. I just might pull off these decorations after all. (I've had my doubts). But either way it will be a thing of the past after this weekend and then it's time to slow down, and focus on the move ahead of us. Not quite sure yet, but it looks like we have found ourselves a place to live out west! We still have to be approved by the owners, so hopefully that goes okay. I just hope they don't find two dogs to be a problem. I really like the house, and it has an amazing kitchen!! Here are a few pics.

through the eyes of a three year old
A post or two ago I mentioned that my little hot shot was becoming quite the photographer. This weekend I let him use our old digital camera, and I though I would show you some of his work. It's kind of fun to see what he considers to be "picture worthy" not to mention seeing how we all look from down at his level! So, lets get started. The first few are things that my little guy finds interesting, or at least enough so to take pictures of.
His feet
More decorations, the TV, and the munchkins bumbo seat
Now for the people that he loves. Up first is Daddy and Uncle J.
And of course Mama (in quite the messy kitchen)
I thought these were fun and just wanted to share. He is growing up so fast. And because I didn't have a chance to take many pictures over the weekend, at least someone did! Sorry this can't be longer, but today is a crazy day and I need to get moving. But I'll be back tomorrow with some updates on what is going around here! Have a great day!Monday, March 10, 2008
The weekend that blew by...
The 31st Annual Gate River Run was held today here in Jacksonville. The Gate River Run is the USA 15k Championship and is now the largest 15k (9.3 miles) race in terms of participants. This year's participants numbered over 13,000.
15k finishers this year were privileged to a few changes from previous years. The first mile or so of this year's race ran north from the Jacksonville Fairgrounds into East Jacksonville. From there, the race course was much the same as previous years (winding into San Marco and St Nicholas and then up the Hart Bridge) until the finish. Finishers this year ran across the finish line inside of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Photos - Comments
Weather Conditions Two words... harsh winds. While temperatures were ideal for a fast race this morning (mid-50s), the high winds were not. Gusts exceeded 50 mph with steady winds in the 30 mph range. It was so bad at mile 3 that waves from the St Johns River were crashing against the bulkheads in San Marco and drenching runners.
They weren't kidding! Not only was I wearing some of the St. Johns River for the remainder of the run, but being up on the Hart Bridge the wind was blowing so hard that it was actually moving me (and everyone else up there) around as if we were being pushed! It was nuts! But it was a good time, and I am really proud of all of us! My final chip time was 1:46:35 (11:39 min mile) which is about standard for my pace on longer runs! It's not the fastest ever, actually it's pretty slow, but for me its good. My longest run up until this point was 8 miles, this was another 1.3 and had a big bridge in it!! So with that I will leave you with some pictures of the race, the sights and a group shot before the race. We didn't get many post race pictures because we were all FREEZING after we finished and we didn't have the best plan when it came to meeting back up, so we were all over the place trying to find each other, then when we did, we were ready to get to the car and head back home.

Parenting...
HOW TO PREPARE FOR BECOMING A PARENT in 15 simple steps...
Lesson 1
Go to the grocery store.
Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
Go home.
Pick up the paper.
Read it for the last time.
Lesson 2
Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already have them and berate them about their:
Methods of discipline.
Lack of patience.
Appallingly low tolerance levels.
Allowing their children to run wild.
Suggest ways in which they might improve their child’s breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.
Enjoy it, because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.
Lesson 3
To discover how the nights will feel…Walk around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly.
At 10PM, put the bag down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1 AM.
Set the alarm for 3AM.
As you can’t get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink.
Go to bed at 2:45AM.
Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off. Sing songs in the dark until 4AM.
Get up. Make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years.
Look cheerful. I would love to say that this one is an exaggeration...but not so much. Well minus the drinking part, I never had trouble falling back to sleep...
Lesson 4
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out…Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer. That will never happen in my house!! Stick your fingers in the flower bed. Then rub them on the clean walls. Cover the stains with crayons. Pretty much so...i can't tell you how often I wash my walls...
How does that look?
Lesson 5
Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.
Time allowed for this - all morning.
Lesson 6
Take an egg carton. Using a pair of scissors and a jar of paint, turn it into an alligator.
Now take the tube from a roll of toilet paper. Using only Scotch tape and a piece of aluminum foil, turn it into an attractive Christmas candle.
Last, take a milk carton, a ping-pong ball, and an empty packet of Cocoa Puffs. Make an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower.
Lesson 7
Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don’t think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don’t look like that.
Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there.
Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat.
Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.
There. Perfect.
Lesson 8
Get ready to go out.
Wait outside the bathroom for half an hour.
Go out the front door. Come in again. Go out. Come back in. Go out again.
Walk down the front path. Walk back up it. Walk down it again. Walk very slowly down the road for five minutes.
Stop, inspect minutely, and ask at least 6 questions about every cigarette butt, piece of used chewing gum, dirty tissue, and dead insect along the way.
Retrace your steps.
Scream that you have had as much as you can stand until the neighbors come out and stare at you.
Give up and go back into the house.
You are now just about ready to try taking a small child for a walk.
Lesson 9
Repeat everything at least (if not more than) five times. Story of my life...I am a broken record!
Lesson 10
*This one is one of my favorites...taking a child to the grocery store is nothing short of an adventure!!!*
Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full- grown goat is excellent).
If you intend to have more than one child, take more than one goat.
Buy your week’s groceries without letting the goats out of your sight.
Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys.
Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.
Lesson 11
Hollow out a melon.
Make a small hole in the side.
Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
Tip half into your lap.
The other half, just throw up in the air.
You are now ready to feed a nine- month old baby.
Lesson 12
Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street, Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on T V for at least five years.
Lesson 13
Move to the tropics. Find or make a compost pile. Dig down about halfway and stick your nose in it. Do this 3-5 times a day for at least two years.
Lesson 14
Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying “mommy” repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each “mommy”; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required).
Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler. Nataleigh...does this sound familiar from your rides in the car with me and the big kid??
Lesson 15
Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the “mommy” tape made from Lesson 14 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

footsteps
At first I didn't think much of it, but it was this morning when he was taking great care to arrange a small toy pool table (about the size of my hand) on my bed to get the perfect shot that I thought to myself..."self: it looks like you may have a little shutter bug on your hands". Of course nothing would make me happier for my little guy to share in my love of photography as he gets older. But interests do change, however for now, I'm happy to have a fellow photographer in the house!
In other news, we are still waiting to hear anything about the inspection we had this weekend. They only have 10 days I think, and we signed all that stuff early last week so hopefully we will hear something soon. I think Friday is their last day. So, I'll keep you all posted!
The next two weeks are going to be a bit crazy around here. But I guess that really isn't much different from the norm. This weekend is our big run, and then next weekend is the DSF Auction that I talk about every year, the following weekend is full of change of command ceremonies and parties, and then I think after that, things calm down for a little while, but will get crazy again because we will be moving sometime in mid-late april!!! WOAH! Will know more on that when Matt finds us a place and we know when we are moving in.
Okay, well that about does it for me. Hope you all are having a super week so far and I'll be back tomorrow! XOXO ~ kp

Another week (and month) begins
This is me after I ran 8 miles on Sunday...actually 8.17 to be exact!! Next week is the big race and I am feeling ready!! Wahhhooooo!
A trip to the random "parking lot fair" that comes to town every now and again. This first picture just says it all...
Riding some rides with the big kid
The munchkin entertaining himself
Back home at the ranch playing outside. My hubbie sitting in the drive enjoying a Sunday afternoon, a game of hide and seek, and the munchkin just being a sweet baby.
Well that was about it for our weekend. Hope you enjoy the pics and I'll be back again tomorrow...well at least I hope to be! Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week! Love ya!
